Julian Alps Peaks Walk

Bled–Pokljuka-Planika Hut-Trigla Vskih Jezerih-Komna Hut-Bohinj

Walking in the JULIAN ALPS along its mountain ridges gives unimaginable sceneries and unexpected emotions. You are surrounded by mighty peaks and have gorgeous panoramas on Mount Triglav, with its 2860m the highest mountain in Slovenia. The Julian Alps stretch from Northeast Italy to Slovenia and a big part makes part of the Triglav national park. The tour starts in Bled a small town on the shores of the eponymous lake. From the 12th century castle, you have a beautiful view of the lake with the only island of Slovenia. The next couple of days you walk in the mountains of the Julian Alps sleeping in mountain huts. Another highlight is lake Bohinj in Triglav Park. It is the biggest lake in Slovenia and it has a stunning backdrop of mountains. It is possible to swim in the lake but it is for the brave among us because the water is quite chilly.

Lake Bled

A real attraction of this tour is the Savica waterfall of 78m high. On the last day, we advise you to visit the Vintgar gorge that is a 1,6 km deep gorge with wooden bridges and waterfalls. Of course, it is not only a tour full of nature. Slovenia has also excellent food and wines. Enjoy fresh fish from the lakes, cheeses, sausages, and the kremšnita, the tasty cream cake from Bled.
