Julian Alps Peaks Walk

Bled–Pokljuka-Planika Hut-Trigla Vskih Jezerih-Komna Hut-Bohinj-Ribcev Laz

Walking along the mountain ridges of the JULIAN ALPS offers breathtaking views and unforgettable emotions. Surrounded by mighty peaks, you’ll enjoy magnificent panoramas of Mount Triglav (2,860 m), the highest mountain in Slovenia and the symbol of the nation.

The Julian Alps stretch from northeast Italy into Slovenia, where a large part is protected within the Triglav National Park. Your walking adventure begins in Bled, a charming town on the shores of the famous Lake Bled. From the 12th-century castle perched above the water, you can admire the picture-perfect view of the lake with Slovenia’s only island.

In the following days, you’ll hike through the majestic mountains of the Julian Alps, spending your nights in welcoming mountain huts, surrounded by peace, stars, and alpine beauty. A true highlight of the journey is Lake Bohinj, located in the heart of Triglav National Park. It is Slovenia’s largest lake, framed by dramatic peaks and lush forests. You can even take a swim — though only the brave will dare, as the waters remain refreshingly cool year-round!

Lake Bled

Another must-see is the Savica Waterfall, one of Slovenia’s natural wonders, with its impressive 78-metre drop. On your last day, don’t miss the chance to visit the Vintgar Gorge, a spectacular 1.6 km canyon with wooden walkways winding along turquoise waters, waterfalls, and rapids.

This walking tour is not only about nature – it’s also a celebration of Slovenian culture and gastronomy. Enjoy fresh fish from the mountain lakes, local cheeses and sausages, and treat yourself to the famous Bled cream cake (kremšnita), a sweet symbol of the region.
