Piedmont, a paradise for families

Turin – Avigliana – Piossasco

The Castles and parks family tour begins in Turin, the capital of Piedmont. Valentino Park is the perfect choice for a relaxing ride along the River Po. Along the way, you can visit the charming Medieval and Baroque Village. Take a sweet break with a hot chocolate or a “bicerin” in one of the city’s historic cafés, or taste the traditional Turin breadsticks (grissini).

In VENERIA REALE, the majestic Royal Palace and La Mandria Park offer cycling routes immersed in nature. As you ride through woods and meadows, you may encounter deer, horses, and many other animal species. Don’t miss the chance to try “bagna cauda,” a warm sauce made with anchovies, garlic, and oil, served with fresh vegetables, or sample the region’s fine wines.
.

Avigliana, with its lakes, is perfect for an excursion combining nature and relaxation. The route offers wonderful views of Avigliana Castle and the Alpine arc. For lunch, enjoy a picnic with local cured meats, such as salame di turgia, or stop in a trattoria to taste “ravioli del plin,” a typical dish from Piedmontese tradition.

In Piossasco, Monte San Giorgio Park is ideal for adventurous families. The cycling trails pass through woods and hills, offering breathtaking views of the Turin plain. Stop at a local restaurant to try dishes featuring mushrooms, truffles, and typical cheeses like Castelmagno or toma di Lanzo. The tour ends in Turin.

Piedmont, in addition to offering enchanting landscapes, with good cycle paths, is a land rich in authentic flavours: be sure to end the day with a dessert such as “bonet,” a pudding made with cocoa and amaretti, or a slice of hazelnut cake, perhaps accompanied by a glass of Moscato d’Asti. These locations are perfect for a day outdoors, combining culture, relaxation, and fun on two wheels!

The daily program of the 4-day tour

The first capital of Italy and a very modern city, Turin was once an important industrial hub, home to Fiat. Today, it has become a cultural centre, especially after hosting the 2006 Winter Olympics. The city is crossed by four rivers: Stura di Lanzo, Sangone, Po, and Dora Riparia. One of Turin’s distinctive features is its extensive network of cycling paths. There is much to see: starting from Valentino Park, a perfect place to begin the tour calmly, follow the cycle path along the Po, passing by the Murazzi and the Medieval Village. Cross Pellerina Park, the largest urban park in Turin, ideal for a first break. Continuing along the Green Crown, a cycle path surrounded by greenery, you will arrive directly at Venaria Reale.
