Discover the walking tour from CORTINA D’AMPEZZO to Venice, an 8-day, 7-night journey that connects the dramatic beauty of the Dolomites with the timeless charm of Venice. This route offers an exceptional variety of landscapes: forest trails, panoramic viewpoints, rolling plateaus, vineyards, historic towns and culturally rich cities. It is the perfect walking holiday in Northern Italy, combining nature, culture and authentic gastronomy.

Starting in Cortina d’Ampezzo, known as the “Queen of the Dolomites,” you will be surrounded by breathtaking alpine scenery, fresh mountain air and a strong local identity rooted in Ladin traditions. Along the way, you will encounter traditional mountain huts, small villages and artisans who preserve centuries-old customs.

Heading south through the province of Belluno, the landscape gradually changes into gentle hills and vineyards of the Prosecco Valdobbiadene area, where one of Italy’s most famous sparkling wines is produced. Here, walking becomes a culinary journey as well, with opportunities to taste local wines, mountain cheeses, cured meats and seasonal specialties that reflect the transition from alpine to Mediterranean cuisine.

Charming towns such as Asolo and Treviso enrich the journey with elegant squares, historic architecture and a relaxed Italian lifestyle. You will discover fascinating local curiosities, from traditional grape-harvesting techniques to the everyday life of the people who call this region home. The journey ends in Venice, one of Europe’s most beautiful cities, where canals, bridges and historic palaces create an unforgettable finale.

Start your journey from Cortina d’Ampezzo, the Queen of the Dolomites, for an unforgettable hiking adventure in Italy’s most breathtaking mountains. Walk along forest trails with spectacular views of the Sorapis massif and the iconic Cinque Torri rock formations. Cross the scenic Boite Valley and reach San Vito di Cadore, a charming mountain village, perfect for relaxing after a day immersed in nature.

The first part of today’s route can be shortened by taking the chairlift to Rifugio Scotter Palatini (ticket not included). From there, follow the “Via Alpini” trail to reach Passo dei Camosci and Rifugio Galassi, crossing the highest point of the day. Along the way, enjoy breathtaking views of famous Dolomite peaks such as Pelmo, Civetta, and Antelao.

Cross the Oten Valley, walking alongside the Molina River for about 16 km. At this point, you can take a taxi from Bar Alla Pineta to Pieve di Cadore (not included) or continue on foot to Calalzo di Cadore and take a bus to Pieve di Cadore (not included).

Above Calalzo di Cadore, you will hike with stunning views of Lake Calalzo, heading towards Tai di Cadore and the Cadore Valley. Along the way, we recommend a short visit to the Church of San Martino, a local cultural and historical gem.

Continue on the “Cammino delle Dolomiti” trail, walking at the foot of Monte Zucco until you reach Calalzo di Cadore again. From here, you can take a bus to Belluno, known as the “Little Venice of the mountains”, concluding your trek surrounded by the breathtaking Dolomite landscapes.

After a short transfer, you will reach the Nevegal plateau, where you can enjoy views of Lake Santa Croce and the scenic Lago Morto. Today’s hike takes you along the mountain ridge, offering 360° panoramic views of the surrounding peaks. Along the way, you can take a pleasant break at one of the traditional mountain huts (malghe), soaking up the authentic alpine atmosphere before descending to the plain and reaching Revine, the final destination of today’s stage.

Today’s journey begins with a short transfer to the starting point of the stage. From here, you will follow the historic “Traumpfad Munich – Venice” trail. After crossing gentle hills, you will arrive at Molinetto della Croda, renowned for its ancient water mill, a symbol of local history and tradition. Next, you will walk through the famous Prosecco region, with its picturesque vineyards, perfect for enjoying a glass of the region’s celebrated sparkling wine. After a short train ride from Conegliano, you will reach Treviso, a stylish city in northeastern Italy, known for its fashion and culture. For those wishing to shorten the stage, it is possible to take the bus from Refrontolo to Conegliano, while still enjoying the charm of the route.

Today’s route follows the Sile River and its protected natural area, a true haven with lakes, marshes, and numerous streams. The area is famous for its rich birdlife, offering nesting sites for many species of birds. Those wishing to continue on foot can walk to Quarto d’Altino, from where it is possible to take a train or bicycle to Mestre, completing a day fully immersed in nature, water, and open skies.

They can only be undertaken by families with children over 14 years, who are experienced walkers. You walk along irregular walking paths or country roads in a hilly and middle-mountain landscape with notable differences in height (+ – 400 m till 1000m). These are energetic tours with a rewarding of magnificent views. The km/miles to walk are 13-25 km/10-16 mi per day, walking time about 5-6 hrs.
