Pedalling around Lake Garda

Bussolengo – Verona – Salò – Limone – Malcesine- Garda

Lake Garda is a popular holiday destination for lovers of water, food and wine, walking, and cycling. This tour offers all in one! Imagine cycling along the shores of one of Italy’s most picturesque lakes, Lake Garda, surrounded by breathtaking views and picturesque historic villages. Absolutely to be seen at least once in a lifetime. But not only to see but to visit, listen, smell, touch, taste. For this wonder your five senses are not enough.

A nice bike ride around Italy’s largest lake. What do you think?!

The 140 kilometres of almost completed bike paths and quiet country lanes, will accompany you on this sensory journey. The tour starts in Bussolengo. On the first day, following the Adige River, you cycle from this sunny village to Verona, the (Italian) city of music and love par excellence. In the following days, you will coast all along the lake, fully experiencing the Mediterranean climate and enjoying the many possibilities to swim in the lake and take sun on its beaches. You will visit small towns like Peschiera, Limone and Garda

During the tour enjoy the culinary delights of the three region of Lake Garda: Veneto, Lombardia, and Trentino. Taste the fresh lake fish, polenta carbonèra, risotto with tench or Amarone wine, bigolli with sardines, the delicate olive oils and pike in sauce.

The many lemon groves, vineyards, olive groves, and unspoiled nature will give your experience a magical atmosphere, I am sure….

I can’t wait to go, can you?

The daily program of the 8-day tour

Arrival, settling into the hotel and videobriefing.

Bussolengo, located only 15 kilometers from Verona, lies on the banks of the Adige River, between Lake Garda and the hills of the Venetian Pre-Alps. Fascinating are the vineyards, typical of this area. You can visit local wineries discovering these local wines such as Valpolicella and Bardolino. The 18th-century Villa Spinola is interesting, a fine example of Venetian architecture and hosts cultural events and temporary exhibitions. Although not always open to the public, it is worth checking to see if there are any events going on during your visit.

The day will begin by cycling the 15 kilometers to Verona following the Adige River. The city of Romeo and Juliet offers us its historic center with the Arena, one of the best-preserved Roman amphitheatres in the world, palaces and ancient alleyways that, since 2000, has been part of the Unesco World Heritage Site. A must-see is the Duomo, a magnificent Romanesque cathedral with a Gothic facade. The interior is decorated with splendid frescoes and works of art, including paintings by the famous Venetian painter Titian. Verona, an unforgettable place, rich in history, architecture, culture and art. Cycling through the hills and vineyards you will return to Bussolengo via Sommacampagna.
